Lubricant requirements for chain drives
Lubricant requirements for chain drives
1. It has excellent permeability
For chains, it is easier to lubricate rollers and sprockets, but it is more difficult to lubricate pins and rollers. Because the gap between the pin and the roller is very small, and it is completely open environmental conditions. If the lubricating oil does not have good permeability, it cannot penetrate into the pin and roller, and cannot play the role of lubricating the pin and roller.
2. It must have excellent adhesion
When the chain is running, the lubricant will be thrown off due to the high speed. At low speeds, the lubricating oil will drip due to gravity. All these will not only pollute the environment and products, but also cause a lot of waste. Therefore, the lubricating oil is required to have good adhesion and be able to firmly adhere to the friction surface without falling off due to various effects.
3. Has excellent lubricating properties
One of the functions of lubricating oil is lubrication. However, when the chain is subjected to different effects during operation, the lubricating performance of the lubricating oil is required to be higher, especially those chains under heavy load and impact conditions, which are resistant to extreme pressure. The requirements are even higher, so the general chain lubricants are very aware of this requirement.
4. Excellent oxidation stability
Usually chain drives work in an exposed environment, so chain lubricants need to have outstanding oxidation stability.
5. It has a very small evaporation loss rate
6. Has a good ability to resist external effects
7. It has the characteristics of not being easily polluted
8. It has the least tendency to deposit carbon.
In addition to the above basic requirements, there are many other requirements. These requirements will have different focuses due to the scope of use of the Transmission Chain, environment, and equipment requirements.
